Phoenix Suns forward, Kevin Durant, entered the NBA’s all-time top 10 scoring list on Friday night after dropping 30 points against the Denver Nuggets. The 35-year-old scored his 27,410th career point to surpass the mark set by NBA legend Moses Malone.

The landmark moment came around 50 seconds before halftime when Durant drove to the baseline to connect on a 2-point shot. Despite pushing his career total to 27,423 points with the basket, Durant was unable to prevent the Suns from losing 119-111 against the reigning NBA champions.

“It’s a long journey to be up there, mentioned with the greats,” Durant said after the match. “It takes a lot of work, a lot of preparation, a lot of people helping me get to this point.”

The two-time NBA champion also paid homage to Malone for setting the standard for future basketball players. “As a basketball player, I think it’s our job to go back and know the history of the game and who paved the way for us,” Durant commented.

Durant has enjoyed a successful 13-season career in the NBA so far, winning back-to-back NBA titles with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018 while picking up the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award both times.
