In his inaugural address as the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari affirmed the commitment of the Federal Government to address hunger in Nigeria by not only providing sustenance for its citizens but also by exporting agricultural products to bolster foreign exchange reserves.

Speaking at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Abuja, Kyari emphasized that these objectives were within reach, thanks to the country's inherent potential. During a reception hosted by the ministry for him and Minister of State Aliyu Abdullahi, Kyari acknowledged the multifaceted challenges tied to food security, including issues like insecurity and flooding.

Highlighting the crucial role of political will, particularly driven by President Bola Tinubu, Kyari articulated the need to approach these challenges head-on. He underscored the importance of long-term, sustainable solutions over short-term palliatives, stressing that the focus should be on enhancing agricultural practices with modern techniques like irrigation and green technology.

Kyari emphasized the urgency of investing in commercial agriculture as a means to overcome the obstacles at hand. He expressed optimism in the nation's potential not only to feed its population but also to tap into its latent capacity for food exports.
